As an awarding organisation, we are recognised and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and the Welsh Government to offer and certificate over 25 vocational qualifications, across a range of subjects including all aquatic disciplines.

As an awarding organisation we must meet certain rules, regardless of what qualifications we offer. These rules are set out in Ofqual’s General Conditions of Recognition (PDF).

Providing progression from level 1 to level 4, we verify learners have been assessed fairly and accurately, confirming the necessary units have been completed and certificating those qualifications achieved.

We work closely with a number of approved centres in a number of countries who deliver and assess the qualifications which we certificate in over 350 delivery sites.

Put simply, we the ASA Awarding Body are like the exam board for GCSEs and the Approved Centre is like a school/college.

We, as the Awarding Body of the National Governing Body for swimming (ASA) are central to the development of standards and qualifications that are fit for purpose within the aquatic sector.
